From Long Distance to Forever
Some love stories feel like they were written long before the couple even met. The kind of story you’d find in a well-worn journal, full of quiet prayers, years of patience, and God’s gentle timing.
Kyla and Jacob are living proof that these kinds of stories truly exist.
These two met as little kids, starting dating in high school, and have been together ever since. They have been dating for nearly four years, soon to be five this October. They’ve spent 3 ½ of those years navigating long distance while Jacob was away at college, and through it all, their relationship remained beautifully steady. Their deep love for Jesus has always been at the center of everything they do, and it’s what carried them through every mile and every season apart.
Kyla is one of the bubbliest, most talkative people you’ll ever meet, full of life and laughter. Jacob, on the other hand, is quiet, thoughtful, and calm. And somehow, they balance each other in the most perfect way. Her joy lights up a room, and his steady presence brings such peace. Watching them together, it’s so clear how well their personalities were made to fit.
They’re getting married this summer on July 25, 2025, and I had the honor of capturing their engagement session at Flattop Mountain Trailhead. It was one of those evenings that didn’t even feel real. The sun kept slipping behind the clouds and then peeking back out just in time to give us the dreamiest golden light. The air was warm, the grass was soft, and the entire landscape felt like it had been hand-picked for them.
Their proposal was just as sweet and personal as their love story. Last August, while they were having a cozy night at Jacob’s parents’ house, he suggested they watch Kyla’s favorite movie, Pride and Prejudice. She had no idea what was coming. The moment the credits rolled, Jacob got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife, a quiet, meaningful moment that captured everything about who they are together.
